Example: A file drawer containing a regular letter size paper measured 45.75 centimeters from the front to the back of the file.
The size of a regular letter is 20.32 cm. by 26.67 cm (8” x 10½”) and its ratio
factor as shown in the above table is 0.054. The volume of said record series would be computed as follows:

Linear Meter = 45.75 cm. = 0.4575 m
Ratio Factor = 0.054
Volume = 0.4575 x 0.054 (multiply)
= 0.0247 cu.m.

The National Archives of the Philippines have simplified the measurement for the volume for cubic meter and explained as:

ONE (1) FILING CABINET DRAWER = 0.056 cu.m.

FOUR (4) DRAWER FILING CABINET = 0.224 cu.m.
