Determination of Warehouse Capacity

"ANNEX I"
DETERMINATION OF WAREHOUSE CAPACITY
1. Prepare a scaled floor plan of the warehouse showing
location of posts, doors, permanent structures and areas
utilized for purposes other than storage, i.e. office, mill,
drier,e tc.
2. Get total floor area intended for grains storage. Where
there are existing processing equipment in the warehouse,
e.g. rice mill, driers and the like, enough working space
should be alloted for these facilities.
3. In the area intended for storage, make pile sketches with a
maximum pile size of 22 x 7.5 x 5 meters. However, provide
at least one (1) meter space between:
a. wall and pile
b. Pile and pile
c. Ceiling or bottom chord and tope of pile but
height of pile should not exceed 5 meters
In case of post and pile, provide 0.5 meters from both sides of the post.
Layout stock piles for maximum storage capacity with minimum dead space.
4. Get volume of each pile (L x W x H)
5. Determine the number of bags per pile
For Rice @ 50 kg
15 bags
No. of bags = Volume x cu. m.
For Rice @ 100 kg
8 bags
No. of bags = Volume x cu. m.
For Palay @ 50 kg
10 bags
No. of bags = Volume x cu. m.
6. Determine total storage capacity of warehouse
storage
bags
capacity = pile x no. of pile
(when all piles are of same sizes)
storage
capacity = no. of bags P + P P + P
